On Saturday afternoon a group of us walked to El San Pedro Mall from Universidad Latina, where we attend our classes. Among other things, Gaby bought two sports bras for the bargain price of ₵1.000 or roughly $2.00 and lost them about five minutes later, we almost caved and got POPS ice cream which all the ticos say is AMAZING, and this happened:

Maybe not the smartest thing to do in a foreign country, but Pura Vida, No?
So with my ear throbbing and my adrenaline pumping, we headed back home. Julia and I separated from the group and headed back to Los Rosales in Sabanilla. We walked, and then walked some more, and then realized that maybe we had made a wrong turn and we might be completely lost. We wandered around for a bit, and every once in a while I would say, "Oh, I remember seeing that!" or "This seems right; I know where we are." It turns out that neither of those things were true because we stopped at a store to ask for directions and we were in a completely different place than I thought we were. I guess my mom did a good job of instilling confidence in me; some could argue too much confidence. After asking for directions we were actually pretty close to Sabanilla, and we made it home as the sun was beginning to set. Whew!
Once I got home I was beat. All I wanted to do was read a book and rest my feet. But then I opened my laptop and saw my Facebook flooding with messages. Everyone was going out tonight. I thought about not going, but let's be real, I can't really say no to going to a Karaoke bar, can I? (#puravida) Ok, I just decided that Pura Vida can excuse all of my indecencies; it's like the elegant alternative to YOLO.
We took taxis to Karaoke 88. When we walked in there were two ticos and a tica singing very loudly to an empty bar. Cue the gringo take-over. Here are some photos to sum up our time there:

Ok, what else? Oh, after Karaoke 88, we went to La Concha de la Lora, which is a nightclub type deal with awesome live music. It was packed, but we still had a great time!!!

The next day, Sunday, we went to downtown San José to Buckets, which is a Sports bar. The Costa Rican soccer team was playing Panama. When we left I think they were tied 2-2. Honestly I wasn't paying too much attention.

Oh and I thought the title was cute for some reason. Something Stupid was obviously my piercing, Something Lost was Julia and myself, and Something Borrowed.... um...... oh maybe I borrowed the Night at the Roxbury sketch for Karaoke??? Sure let's go with that. Chao!
